يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

Tafseer

O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous -

Tafseer

{ يا أيها الذين أمنوا كُتب } فرض { عليكم الصيام كما كتب على الذين من قبلكم } من الأمم { لعلكم تتقون } المعاصي فإنه يكسر الشهوة التي هي مبدؤها .

O ye who believe impose upon you fasting as prescribed for those before you, from the United Fountain of Faith sin it breaks lust which is its principle.
