Tafseer
{ قالوا سبحانك } تنزيها لك عما لا يليق بك { ما كان ينبغي } يستقيم { لنا أن نتخذ من دونك } أي غيرك { من أولياء } مفعول أول ومن زائدة لتأكيد النفي وما قبله الثاني فكيف نأمر بعبادتنا ؟ { ولكن متعتهم وآباءهم } من قبلهم بإطالة العمر وسعة الرزق { حتى نسوا الذكر } تركوا الموعظة والإيمان بالقرآن { وكانوا قوما بورا } هلكى، قال تعالى .
{They said, "Glory be to You!"} Exalting You from what is not befitting of You. {It was not right for us to take besides You} meaning other than You {as protectors} is the first object, and "min" is redundant to emphasize the negation, and what preceded it is the second. So how can we be commanded to worship Us? {But We gave them enjoyment and their fathers} before them by extending their lives and providing abundant provision {until they forgot the remembrance} they abandoned the admonition and belief in the Qur'an {and they were a people who perished} perished. God Almighty said.
