And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah . If he were to obey you in much of the matter, you would be in difficulty, but Allah has endeared to you the faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts and has made hateful to you disbelief, defiance and disobedience. Those are the [rightly] guided.
Tafseer
{ واعلموا أن فيكم رسول الله } فلا تقولوا الباطل فإن الله يخبره بالحال { لو يطيعكم في كثير من الأمر } الذي تخبرون به على خلاف الواقع فيرتب على ذلك مقتضاه { لعنتُّم } لأثمتم دونه إثم التسبب إلى المرتب { ولكن الله حبَّب إليكم الإيمان وزينه } حسنه { في قلوبكم وكرَّه إليكم الكفر والفسوق والعصيان } استدراك من حيث المعنى دون اللفظ لأن من حبب إليه الإيمان إلخ غايرت صفته صفة من تقدم ذكره { أولئك هم } فيه التفات عن الخطاب { الراشدون } الثابتون على دينهم .
{And know that among you is the Messenger of God.} So do not say falsehood, for God informs him of the situation. {If he were to obey you in much of the matter} that you inform him of, contrary to reality, and thus its consequence would be established, {you would be cursed} you would have sinned less than him, the sin of being the cause of what is established. {But God has endeared to you the faith and has made it pleasing} made it beautiful {in your hearts and has made disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to you.} An addition in terms of meaning but not in terms of wording, because the one to whom faith is endeared, etc., his description is different from the description of the one mentioned previously. {Those are the ones} in it is a shift from the address {the rightly guided} those who are steadfast in their religion.
