76 : 1

هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ حِينٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْئًا مَّذْكُورًا

Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?

Tafseer

{ هل } قد { أتى على الإنسان } آدم { حين من الدهر } أربعون سنة { لم يكن } فيه { شيئا مذكورا } كان فيه مصورا من طين لا يذكر أو المراد بالإنسان الجنس وبالحين مدة الحمل.

{Has there not been over man} Adam {a period of time} forty years {in which there was not} anything worth mentioning? In which he was formed from clay, not worth mentioning. Or what is meant by man is the species, and by “period” is the period of gestation.
