إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاء وَلَا شُكُورًا

[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah . We wish not from you reward or gratitude.

Tafseer

{ إنما نطعمكم لوجه الله } لطلب ثوابه { لا نريد منكم جزاء ولا شكورا } شكرا فيه علة الإطعام وهل تكلموا بذلك أو علمه الله منهم فأثنى عليهم به، قولان.

{We feed you only for the sake of God} to seek His reward. {We desire from you neither reward nor thanks}. Thanks in it is the reason for feeding. Did they speak about that or did God know about it from them and praise them for it? There are two opinions.
