[Then Allah said], "It is expected, [if you repent], that your Lord will have mercy upon you. But if you return [to sin], We will return [to punishment]. And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed."
Tafseer
وقلنا في الكتاب { عسى ربكم أن يرحمكم } بعد المرة الثانية إن تبتم { وإن عدتم } إلى الفساد { عدنا } إلى العقوبة وقد عادوا بتكذيب محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم فسلط عليهم بقتل قريظة ونفي النضير وضرب الجزية عليهم { وجعلنا جهنم للكافرين حصيرا } محبسا وسجنا .
And We said in the Book, “Perhaps your Lord will have mercy upon you” after the second time, if you repent. “But if you return” to corruption, “We will return” to punishment. And they returned by denying Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, so He gave them power to kill the Qurayza, banish the Nadir, and impose the jizyah on them. “And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison.”
