18 : 12

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَاهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَيُّ الْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَى لِمَا لَبِثُوا أَمَدًا

Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time.

Tafseer

{ ثم بعثناهم } أيقظناهم { لنعلم } علم مشاهدة { أي الحزبين } الفريقين المختلفين في مدة لبثهم { أحصى } أفعل بمعنى أضبط { لما لبثوا } لبثهم متعلق بما بعده { أمدا } غاية .

{Then We raised them up} We awakened them {to know} the knowledge of seeing {which of the two parties} the two groups differed in the length of their stay {calculated} the verb meaning to control {how long they stayed} their stay is related to what comes after it {a period} a limit.

Surah
