58 : 16

اتَّخَذُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah , and for them is a humiliating punishment.

Tafseer

{ اتخذوا إيمانهم جُنَّةٌ } سترا على أنفسهم وأموالهم { فصدوا } بها المؤمنين { عن سبيل الله } أي الجهاد فيهم بقتلهم وأخذ أموالهم { فلهم عذاب مهين } ذو إهانة .

{They have taken their faith as a shield} as a cover for themselves and their wealth {and have hindered} with it the believers {from the way of God} that is, jihad against them by killing them and taking their wealth {so for them is a humiliating punishment} of humiliation.
