63 : 2

اتَّخَذُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ سَاء مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

They have taken their oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah . Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

Tafseer

{ اتخذوا أَيْمانهم جُنَّةً } سترة على أموالهم ودمائهم { فصدوا } بها { عن سبيل الله } أي عن الجهاد فيهم { إنهم ساء ما كانوا يعملون } .

{They took their oaths as a shield} as a cover for their money and blood {and averted} with them {from the way of God} that is, from jihad in their cause {indeed, evil was that which they did}.
