63 : 3

ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ آمَنُوا ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا فَطُبِعَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ

That is because they believed, and then they disbelieved; so their hearts were sealed over, and they do not understand.

Tafseer

{ ذلك } أي سوء عملهم { بأنهم آمنوا } باللسان { ثم كفروا } بالقلب، أي استمروا على كفرهم به { فطبع } ختم { على قلوبهم } بالكفر { فهم لا يفقهون } الإيمان.

{That} meaning their evil deeds {is that they believed} with their tongues {then disbelieved} in their hearts, meaning they persisted in their disbelief in Him {so He sealed} their hearts with disbelief {so they do not understand} faith.
