And when you see them, their forms please you, and if they speak, you listen to their speech. [They are] as if they were pieces of wood propped up - they think that every shout is against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?
Tafseer
{And when you see them, their bodies impress you} because of their beauty. {And if they speak, you listen to their speech} because of its eloquence. {As if} because of the size of their bodies, which prevents understanding, {wood} with a sukoon on the shin or a damma {lean} leaning against the wall. {They think every shout} shouted like a call to arms or the announcement of a lost item {is against them} because of the terror in their hearts that something will descend upon them that would permit the shedding of their blood. {They are the enemy, so beware of them} for they will divulge your secret to the disbelievers. {May God destroy them} destroy them. {How are they turned away from faith} after the proof has been established.
