54 : 2

وَإِن يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ

Play

And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic."

Tafseer

{ وإن يروْا } أي كفار قريش { آية } معجزة له صلى الله عليه وسلم { يعرضوا ويقولوا } هذا { سحر مستمر } قوي من المرة: القوة أو دائم .

{And if they see} meaning the infidels of Quraysh {a sign} of his, may God bless him and grant him peace, {they turn away and say} This is {persistent magic} strong from the word “mara”: strength or permanent.
