24 : 16

وَلَوْلَا إِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوهُ قُلْتُم مَّا يَكُونُ لَنَا أَن نَّتَكَلَّمَ بِهَذَا سُبْحَانَكَ هَذَا بُهْتَانٌ عَظِيمٌ

And why, when you heard it, did you not say, "It is not for us to speak of this. Exalted are You, [O Allah ]; this is a great slander"?

Tafseer

{ ولولا } هلا { إذ } حين { سمعتموه قلتم ما يكون } ما ينبغي { لنا أن نتكلم بهذا سبحانك } هو للتعجيب هنا { هذا بهتان } كذب { عظيم } .

{And why did you not say, when you heard it, “It is not appropriate for us to speak of this. Glory be to You!” Here it is for astonishment. {This is a great slander.}
