And Allah created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge. And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. Indeed, that for Allah is easy.
Tafseer
{ والله خلقكم من تراب } بخلق أبيكم آدم منه { ثم من نطفة } أي منيّ بخلق ذريته منها{ ثم جعلكم أزواجا } ذكورا وإناثا { وما تحمل من أنثى ولا تضع إلا بعلمه } حال، أي معلومة له { وما يعمَّر من معمَّر } أي ما يزاد في عمر طويل العمر { ولا ينقص من عمره } أي ذلك المعمَّر أو معمَّر آخر { إلا في كتاب } هو اللوح المحفوظ { إن ذلك على الله يسير } هيِّن.
{And God created you from dust} by creating your father Adam from it {then from a sperm-drop} that is, semen by creating his offspring from it {then He made you pairs} males and females {and no female conceives or gives birth except with His knowledge} a state, that is, known to Him {and no long-lived person is granted a long life} that is, no long-lived person is granted a long life {or a long life-span is decreased} that is, that long-lived person or another long-lived person {except in a register} that is, the Preserved Tablet {that, for God, is easy} easy.
