41 : 17

وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَاهُمْ فَاسْتَحَبُّوا الْعَمَى عَلَى الْهُدَى فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَاعِقَةُ الْعَذَابِ الْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

Tafseer

And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.

Tafseer

{ وأما ثمود فهديناهم } بيّنا لهم طريق الهدى { فاستحبوا العمى } اختاروا الكفر { على الهدى فأخذتهم صاعقة العذاب الهون } المهين { بما كانوا يكسبون } .

{And as for Thamud, We guided them} We showed them the path of guidance {but they preferred blindness} they chose disbelief {over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them} the humiliating one {because of what they used to earn}.
