Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly? But already there have come [some of] its indications. Then what good to them, when it has come, will be their remembrance?
Tafseer
{So do they await} what are they waiting for, i.e., the disbelievers of Mecca, {except the Hour to come upon them} is a substitute for inclusion from the Hour, i.e., the matter is only that it will come upon them {suddenly} suddenly {for indeed its signs have come} its signs: among them the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, the splitting of the moon and the smoke {so how will they, when it comes upon them} the Hour, {be reminded} will remind them, i.e., it will not benefit them.
