20 : 44

فَقُولَا لَهُ قَوْلًا لَّيِّنًا لَّعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَى

And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [ Allah ]."

Tafseer

{ فقولا له قولا لينا } في رجوعه عن ذلك { لعله يتذكر } يتعظ { أو يخشى } الله فيرجع والترجي بالنسبة إليهما لعلمه تعالى بأنه لا يرجع .

{So speak to him gently} in order to make him turn away from that {so that he may remember} take heed {or fear} God and return. The hope is with respect to them because God Almighty knows that he will not return.

Surah
