Tafseer Ibn Kathir of ALI 'IMRAN [141]

وَلِيُمَحِّصَ اللّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَيَمْحَقَ الْكَافِرِينَ

And that Allah may purify the believers [through trials] and destroy the disbelievers.
