Tafseer Ibn Kathir of ADZ DZAARIYAAT [45]

فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مِن قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنتَصِرِينَ

And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves.
